Quality Compounder – laboratory & production

We are looking for a new addition to join our forward-thinking team in compounding to produce our high-quality products. To live and fulfil the Forgeway values and take a key role in ‘on the floor’ Quality Control and small batch/’Specials’ production.  This will support the current manufacturing team and process to help achieve the company and customer’s expectations and help deliver the business vision and growth strategy.  Take responsibility for manufacture of pigment blends and pre-mixes for mainstream production. Support manufacturing of ‘Specials’/DG production batches.  Support the Quality Department with raw material and process monitoring.  The role will be split across working in the laboratory and production.

The role…

  • To accurately weigh and measure chemicals in correct amounts following the pre-defined formula.
  • Verify pre-weighted chemicals before use and mix according to formula.
  • Positively contribute to the delivery of the manufacturing schedule, escalating any issues in a timely manner.
  • Proactively resolve challenges that may impact the schedule.
  • Manufacture of small batch ingredients for mainstream production – pigment blends, pre-mixes etc – with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Conduct Quality Control testing on batch production and where necessary on certain operational processes.
  • Support Quality Control Technician when required.
  • Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift with correct chemicals and following correct company procedures and SOPs
  • Calibrate machines at the beginning of each shift where necessary and recalibrate at end of each shift if necessary.
  • Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running and fix any problems that occur.
  • Responsible for ensuring regular maintenance is carried out to prevent avoidable issues occurring, which could affect daily operations.
  • Report serious machine faults to Manager.
  • Ensure the quality of product by assisting in periodic checks on output in conjunction with quality.
  • Ensure minimal wastage and take action where un-necessary waste is noticed.
  • Effective execution and oversight of the Production Quality Control workload. 
  • Perform standard quality control testing and inspections on incoming raw materials, and finished goods according to defined specifications, calculate and report test results, and record data.
  • Timely reporting of issues relating to product conformity identified through test work.
  • Take care of both your own health and safety and that of others who might be affected by your actions or omissions, ensuring all company safety, compliance and quality systems are followed and all relevant legislation complied with.
  • Perform safety checks on all machines, follow all required SOPs.
  • Raise concerns and report on any incidents and always ensure working area is free of hazards.
  • Suggest and make improvements where necessary to any processes and take initiative to implement once approved by the Production Manager.
  • Maintain high standards cleanliness in all working areas.
  • Able to work effectively with different types of people.
  • Pro-actively works in conjunction with other departments on a daily basis to ensure daily targets are met.
  • Manages competing deadlines and escalate issues where appropriate to Manager.
  • Liaison between raw material Goods In, Production and Quality.

  • Previous experience within manufacturing
  • Forklift licence is desirable but not essential
