Overview

Aerok 8020 delivers very high strength in the realm of epoxy adhesives. Compatible with metals, plastics, and composites, this adhesive ensures robust bonding across a wide spectrum of materials. A notable attribute is its fast strength build-up, reaching handling strength in a span of 3 hours. Its formula also exhibits good resistance to chemicals and environmental factors. It's worth highlighting the need for careful handling, as skin sensitization can occur in certain individuals.

Applications

Industrial Manufacturing Applications:
Structural bonding of composite and metal joints in the aerospace, automotive, and marine industries.
Demanding applications:
High-strength bonds that require a durable adhesive even in demanding and tough applications facing weathering and chemical exposure.

Key features

High Tensile Strength (35MPa)
Impact toughened to withstand vibrations and impact
Fast strength build up
Good adhesion to most metals, composites, and most plasticsh
Epoxy formulation has a low odour

How to use

Application temperature:
Should be between 5°C and 30°C. Higher or lower temperatures can impact cure speed and adhesive performance.
Surface Preparation:
It's essential to clean substrates before application. Aerok 8020 will often require abrasion to maximize performance.
Application:
Make sure to follow the proper instructions before using Aerok 8020 as it is a two-component adhesive. Watch the 'How-To' video in the media section below.

Its very high strength and impact toughening make it unique, ensuring optimal performance in demanding structural applications.

Aerok 8020 can be put into light operation after 3 hours. Full cure can take up to 24 hours.

Surface preparation can significantly influence bond performance. Generally, clean, dry, and slightly abraded surfaces ensure optimal adhesion. You will not need to use a specialist primer or surface preparation method unless you are bonding LSE plastics or materials that have low surface energy.

The adhesive exhibits good chemical resistance. However, for applications involving prolonged exposure to specific chemicals, it's recommended to conduct a compatibility test.

Aerok 8020 effectively bonds most metals, plastics, and composite materials. It will not bond to LSE plastics like PP, PE, or PTFE as well as galv. steel and powder-coated materials unless you have used a specialist surface preparation method.
