What do the different Formoa Colours mean?

This page will help you decipher what the different colours are actually for.

Green Formoa Packaging

High Strength Bonding

The green Formoa packaging stands for 'High Strength'. All the high-performance variants of Formoa fit into the green category.

We formulated these adhesives for high-performance bonding. If an application requires a semi-structural adhesive, a Formoa product from the green 'High Strength' range will be the best choice.

The green packaging means you can use the adhesive for semi-structural bonding.

Yellow Formoa Packaging

Bonding and Sealing Adhesives

The yellow Formoa packaging stands for 'Bond/seal'. These adhesives are primarily used for bonding purposes. However, yellow Formoa adhesives have better adhesive characteristics (like strength or adhesion profile) than sealant properties.
The ‘Bond/seal’ Formoa adhesives have greater adhesive properties than ‘Seal/bond’ Formoa, whilst also having better sealant properties than green ‘High Strength’ Formoa adhesives.
Yellow Bond/seal Formoa products are perfect when you have multiple bonding and sealing applications or you require an adhesive that also has some sealant properties.
The yellow packaging means you could use the adhesive as a sealant too if needed.

Blue Formoa Packaging

Sealing and Bonding Multi-Use Adhesive

Blue Formoa packaging indicates the product is 'Seal/bond'. These adhesive sealants have equal levels of adhesive and sealant properties.

You could be using a Seal/bond blue Formoa product to bond a lightweight substrate whilst also using the same blue Formoa product to seal around the edge of that substrate.

The blue packaging helps users identify that the product can be used as an adhesive and a sealant.

Red Formoa Packaging

Glass Bonding Adhesives

Red Formoa packaging indicates that the adhesive is for 'Glass bonding'. We specifically formulated these adhesives for bonding glass.

Whilst they have the properties of glass bonding adhesive, red Formoa products still have some sealant properties too. Some companies use red Formoa products as a multi-use adhesive sealant.

The red Formoa packaging helps users identify that they should be using the product for glass bonding.

Checkered Formoa Packaging

Colour-Matched Sealant

The checkered Formoa packaging indicates the product is part of the 'Colours' range. This indicates the product is a colour-matched sealant.

These products are specifically for colour-matched sealing whilst still having some adhesive characteristics.

The user will have either specified their exact colour requirements or will have selected a similar colour from the available options.

Orange Formoa Packaging

Specialist Adhesive or Sealant

When there is orange Formoa packaging, this indicates the product is 'Special'. The product will be either a bespoke product or an adjusted formulation.

The orange Formoa packaging could contain any of the products from the Formoa range. When the user has an orange Formoa, it will usually be accompanied by a wallboard or a translation tool.

Orange Formoa packaging indicates the product is specialist. If the user doesn't know what the application is, they should be informed by a wallboard or their manager.

What is the benefit of using colour-coded packaging?

Whilst there are multiple branding and marketing benefits to colour-coded packaging, easy identification is the biggest benefit of using colour-coded packaging.

When manufacturing companies have operatives from multiple countries, the language barrier can cause miscommunication.

Miscommunication will cause two main problems:

Wastage

Wastage and quality issues will erode profit.
Wastage may not seem like a big cost, but it can soon start to stack up.

So how does this all tie back to adhesives and colour-coded packaging?
Manufacturing companies with adhesive processes also experience miscommunication errors.
This then leads to operators using the wrong adhesives for the application.
As a result, waste and quality issues rise and profit decreases. The worst part?
Companies can easily reduce both wastage and quality issues by using clearer packaging.
Colour coding the packaging is one such way to remove the language barrier. Colour is a universal language.

Quality issues

The relationship between quality issues and profit is much more clear-cut.
Not only could these lead to costly replacements, but they could also lead to warranty claims when the end product is in use.

It means any operator with any language can easily identify which product they should use.
It is also easier for supervisors to spot if an operator is using the wrong product.
We know colour-coded packaging isn’t going to completely remove wastage and quality issues with adhesive processes.
Ultimately, colour-coded packaging will help users identify the right adhesive product more quickly
As a result, quality and waste issues significantly reduce.
